The Supervisor role is an organization-level read-only role. It is used for people who need to review courses, exams, and reports without changing the course content or exam setup. Supervisors can view the courses they are added to, open exams in those courses, review available read-only pages, and follow reports after exams are ready. They cannot create or edit courses, questions, students, exam settings, grading setup, imports, or printed exam material.

How access works

Supervisor access has two layers:
  1. The user must be invited to the organization with the Supervisor role.
  2. The supervisor must be added to each course they need to view.
Organization Owners and Admins can access all courses automatically. Supervisors do not receive automatic access to every course; they must be added to courses individually.

Supervisor vs View Reports Only

Supervisor is an organization role. When a Supervisor is added to a course, the system automatically assigns the Supervisor permission for that course. View Reports Only is a course permission that can be assigned to regular teacher members. It is narrower and is meant for users who should mainly access reporting pages.

What supervisors do not see

The current system hides operational or editing pages from supervisors, including:
  • Course settings
  • Exam settings
  • Monitoring room
  • Import answers
  • Print
  • Tags reports tab in the exam navigation
The exact visible exam tabs can still change by exam type and exam status.
